RB.27.10.2013

The background of this spawn dates back to 2010. You can find some infos here
The Sire and the Dame are brothers coming from this line born on 25.04.2013. In between one male from Jiri Bosina (which was coming from a spawn with a fish coming from Joep who won a first place at the HBS2012) was crossed in the line.

Some photos of the Sire who won the BOS in Dortmund 2013 and was the Betta of the month on Bettas4all:

About this male I like the body, the dorsal fin projecting toward the front and the nice overall balance. The caudal spread is impressive and the broad dorsal is interesting since in theory there is no DT blood in this line.  Weak points are: the length of the anal fin (that could be shorter), defects in the color (the red is not fully distributed and there is metallic in the caudal), some bent rays and a little defect in the line of the head. Portament and the aggressiveness are good (see the video below).

The Dame (a spawn sister of the Sire):

About this female I like the strong body, the well spread anal fin. The dorsal fin has misses some rays in the anterior part and the head has a small bump but overall is a very nice fish.

They have been conditioned with frozen artemia and "Biofish food regular L" for 2 weeks before spawning and kept at 22°C. Here one video of the couple before putting the fish together:

The breeding will be performed in a standard manner, see method described here

In this particular case the fish are put in the plastic tank the 27.09.2013. The temperature of the water was too hot for CTPK (29°C) and the male was apatic. I have changed half of the water on the 28.09.2013 and on the 29.09.2013 and decreased the temperature to 27°C. The couple has spawn on the 30.09.2013. The female made her own nest and was safeguarding some of the eggs for a couple of days, but eventually she was removed. The father took care of the eggs bud did not make a very foamy nest. The fry were free swimming on the 31st, the male was removed on the 2.10.13. The little ones were fed with live artemia and micro worms. There are not many small ones, but hopefully enough for keeping this line.

Update today 24.11.13, I could count at least 20 small ones growing happily:
