The genetic behind this spawn is quite simple. The Sire and the Dame are brothers from a cross obtained from two fish that were both a kind gift of two of my dearest friends. The grandparents were respectively a metallic HMPK male (that is still in my fishroom and I will add as a photo soon) which was a gift from my dear friend Roberto Silverii and the female was a mustard gas female, coming from the fishroom of the "Best European Breeder" Alberto Montalbetti. I will contact them soon in order to trace more carefully the genealogy of these two lines, possibly with photos.
Some photos of the Sire:
About this male I like the very strong body, the short anal fin, the dorsal fin projecting toward the front and the nicely distributed teal-metallic color. The overall balance is not bad and the line of the head is smooth. Weak points are: the shape of the anal fin (that could be more trapezoidal), defects in the color (white scales in the head and two shades of blue in the fins). The caudal fin could have slightly longer first rays and shorter, ideally more full ventral fins. Portament and the aggressiveness are good (see videos below).
The Dame (a spawn sister of the Sire):
About this female I like the strong body, the short anal fin and the color. The dorsal fin has short rays in the anterior part and the ventral fins are double but overall is a very nice fish.
They have been conditioned with live food (bloodworm, grindal and white mosquito larvae), frozen artemia and "Biofish food regular L" for 2 weeks before spawning. Here two videos of the couple before putting the fish together:
The breeding was performed in a standard manner, see method described here
In this particular case the fish were put in the plastic tank on the 17.09.2013 and the female was released the same night before the light went off. Early in the morning of the 18.09.2013 the fish spawned few hours after the light went on. The male was very protective and kept moving the nest in different places from time to time. After the 20.09.2013 there are several small ones eating artemis.
